Enrich the lives of older adults through community, choice, and continuing care in the Activity Assistant role. The Activity Assistant plans and participates in one-to-one, small group, and large group activities within a retirement community setting that may involve patients, residents, family members and volunteers. The Activity Assistant may facilitate these enriching activities in various care settings such as independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. This role works within a licensed care setting and requires either an HCA or CNA certification. Find your sense of belonging at Wesley!
You will
provide continuing care through these responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate activities that enrich the lives of aging adults.
- Establish meaningful yet professional relationships with patients, residents, family members and volunteers.
- Provide one-to-one, individual activities for room-bound residents or residents who choose not to participate in group activities.
- Complete activity assessment with resident and/or family member to personalize activity needs.
- Assist the caregiving team with resident’s personal care, as needed.
- Document resident’s involvement with activities, as appropriate.
- Order, maintain, and organize event materials and equipment.
- Participate in special events from set-up, through event, to closing and clean-up.
- Assist with seasonal and promotional decorations.
- May ride along or operate a company vehicle to transport activity participants.
- Learn and apply company Federal, State, and Local rules, regulations, and policies.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Our requirements and qualifications for success:
- Washington State home care aide (HCA) or nursing assistant (CNA) certification.
- Mental Health and Dementia certification within 120 days of hire.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- A service-oriented approach to work.
- A desire to engage with seniors to help them live their best years.
- Ability to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within 14 days of hire.
- Ability to obtain a CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to understand and communicate in the English language.
- If operating a vehicle, valid Washington State driver’s license is required within 30 days of hire.
- If operating a vehicle, active auto insurance policy per company minimum coverage.
Physical,
environmental, and mental requirements:
- Ability to give direct patient care, including participating in lifting, transferring, positioning, and assistance of residents with walking or in wheelchairs.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard or touch screen to document resident records.
- Apply your physical and muscle strength to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
- Ability to utilize your lower back and abdominal muscles to support part of the body repeatedly and continuously over time without fatiguing.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Ability to listen to and comprehend information and ideas provided through conversation, email, and text.
