Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high-quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT’s skills/training and the needs of the Department and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The PCT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

What you should expect to do in this role:

• You will perform individualized patient-focused care and technical tasks under the direct delegation of a registered nurse
• You will assist with the care of the patient in collaboration with the patient care team
• You will maintain and apply principles of patient safety
• You will ensure decisions and actions on behalf of patients are determined in an ethical manner
• You will participate in the improvement of operational functions and patient care
• You will establish communication and respectful relationships with all disciplines
• You will recognize when and how to escalate patient concerns up the chain of command

What qualifications you will need for this role:

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through American Heart Assoc. and American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
• CNA Training program
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Basic personal computer skills
• Multi-tasking and prioritization skills
• One year of nurse assistant experience in an acute care setting
