We are currently looking for an Activities Assistant to work within our Independent Living community of The Wesleyan. The Activities Assistant plays a critical role in the overall engagement of our residents and in ensuring our residents explore all the possibilities available for an active, thriving lifestyle. Experience working as an Activities Assistant within an independent living and/or senior living community along with a strong technology acumen and a passion for coordinating fun, creative activities that engage senior residents in an active lifestyle will be essential to your success as an Activities Assistant at The Wesleyan.

The shift schedule for this position is Tuesday - Saturday from 8:00AM-5:00PM
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and evaluating resident activities.
- Encourages resident participation programs and activities.
- Escorts residents on activities away from the property as assigned.
- Conducts various activities at the direction of the Life Enrichment Director.
- Teaches Group Exercise Classes. (Prior experience in teaching aerobics, strength training, and water-based classes a plus).
- Maintains necessary activity supplies, which may include outside purchasing.
- Assists in the surveying and interviewing of residents to determine interests, talents and resident satisfaction.
- Maintains general observation of residents and shares appropriate information with staff.
- Follows department budget guidelines.
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of The Wesleyan.
- Completes other tasks and job duties as assigned by the Activities Director/Administrator.
Qualifications & Experience:
- An Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience teaching group exercise.
- Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in computers and various technology programs and applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all resident and staff matters.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- A positive attitude, adaptability, and affinity for teamwork, attention to detail, and initiative.
- A servant-minded approach to all aspects of the job.
- A passion for working within a senior living community is a must!
