Calibration Technician
ROLE
We need an experienced Calibration Technician at The Naval Dosimetry Center (NDC). The Naval Dosimetry Center (NDC) is the U.S. Navy’s hub for measuring radiation exposure among servicemembers operating nuclear-powered vessels. As the center of excellence for radiation protection, NDC provides global dosimetry processing, consultation, and exposure tracking to ensure the health and readiness of Navy and Marine Corps personnel. In this role, you will support equipment logistics, inventory tracking, and records management across multiple programs. You'll help process work orders, coordinate maintenance, manage supply data, and contribute to technical reporting, while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations through strong attention to detail and collaboration. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the shipment of equipment and other supplies across various programs within the organization.
- Collaborate with the Equipment Manager to update and maintain inventory lists, ensuring accuracy and current records across all programs.
- Provide support for annual equipment inventory audits and related activities across the organization.
- Support routine consumable supply inventory processes to ensure timely replenishment and availability for relevant departments.
- Request and coordinate the processing of quotes for calibration and maintenance of test standards and equipment used in organizational activities.
- Work with the Records Management Coordinator to maintain departmental file plans, ensuring proper documentation and compliance across programs.
- Assist with processing incoming work orders and ensure accurate data entry into appropriate database tracking systems.
- Support data review, validation, and analysis efforts to aid organizational initiatives.
- Apply expanded knowledge of quality control methodologies, research techniques, and advanced troubleshooting to support operational improvement across programs.
- Utilize expertise in the following technical areas to provide support as required.
- Prepare and contribute to the development of clear, concise, and accurate technical reports for organizational use.
- Utilize proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, Access, Word) to support data management, reporting, and documentation efforts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience processing and handling shipments of laboratory equipment and materials
- Experience maintaining and auditing inventories of laboratory equipment
- Experience with laboratory data entry processes and procedures
- Experience working with MS Office suite (Excel, Access, Word)
- Experience utilizing MS SharePoint.
EDUCATION
- Associate’s degree or higher in Business, Health, or a related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) system
- Experience with Navy/DOD guidance and policies about equipment and records management.
