Instructs students the skills and responsibilities of driving.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for student's knowledge of safe driving. Instructs students on laws and regulations on the roadways. Evaluates students on and off the road. Provides instruction in the classroom on Idaho driving laws and regulations. Prepares students for the drivers written and / or skills test.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Develop an instructional calendar each quarter;
Ability to communicate with parents;
Ability to work effectively with students and developing positive rapport;
Knowledge of state curriculum and ensure it is being taught;
Complete Mileage reports;
Attends State workshops.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a valid Idaho Driver's License;
Must pass a background check;
High School diploma or GED;
Must have completed a physical;
Idaho Public Driver Education instructors are required by state law to complete eight (8) hours of relevant professional development training every year. Professional development hours will be accepted if for the purpose of enhancing instructional knowledge and skills in support of teaching best practices related to drive education. Five regional workshops each year are provided for instructors to obtain / maintain these hours. Every three years a two (2) day state conference will be conducted.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal conversation and to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person;
Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work and assessments, prepare and review documents, and organize documents and materials;
Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform repetitive hand / wrist / arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment;
Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and balance, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in an office environment, lifting or moving objects that weigh up to 50 lbs.;
Job tasks require, with or without reasonable accommodation, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping;
Must have a valid Idaho Driver's License and a vehicle to drive and / or must provide own transportation for job related activities.

Yearly by supervisor.
