Duties
- Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to individuals in recovery from mental health and addiction issues.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills through motivational interviewing techniques.
- Facilitate crisis intervention and management by recognizing signs of distress and providing immediate support.
- Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Educate clients about available resources within the behavioral health system, including social work services.
- Conduct group sessions focused on peer support, sharing experiences, and fostering a sense of community.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health systems and resources available for clients.
- Experience in crisis intervention, crisis management, or mental health counseling is preferred.
- Skills in mentoring individuals through their recovery journey.
- Knowledge of addiction counseling practices is a plus.
