Position: Aquatics Coordinator - Part-time
Summary:
Aquatics coordinator would be responsible to help recruit, mentor, and evaluate instructors/lifeguards. Under the direction of the Program Manager, is responsible for implementing a comprehensive aquatics program which includes direct supervision of aquatic services and ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons of the pool at all times.
Pay: $22-$25/hour
Hours: 20-25 per week based on the needs of the program
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience in aquatic programs as a instructor, lifeguard or coordinator
- Possess current Lifeguard certification-required
- Possess current Water Safety Instructor certification-preferred
- Willing and able to get Trainer certification(s)
- Provide documentation of certification(s) to the Aquatics Program Manager.
- Ability to supervise, manage and lead the aquatics program.
- Ability to share general department program knowledge and answer or direct questions to appropriate department personnel.
- Ability to interact with children of all ages, parents, and school staff.
- Knowledge of progressive age appropriate swim instruction.
- Passion for running a high quality program supportive of all participants and coaches.
Responsibilities:
- Help recruit instructors and lifeguards
- Fill in as a lifeguard or WSI where there are program needs
- Serve as point of contact in event of an emergency (medical, weather, fire, security, etc.).
- Plan and organize staff schedules for each session
- Train, manage and evaluate staff.
- Communicate program information and expectations to participants, parents, and or community members.
- Communicate pertinent program information or needs to the Recreation Program Manager.
- Complete, collect, and submit all applicable forms, reports, and payroll documentation as directed by immediate supervisor or department administrator.
- Assist in organizing and inventorying equipment.
- Ability to understand the needs of the community as applicable to the aquatics program.
- Ability to facilitate conflict resolution and independently solve problems as needed or in consultation with department administrators.
- Know and train emergency action plans for the facility.
- Help to create and ensure a safe program environment which may include program set-up and clean-up and general cleaning of spills, bodily fluids, etc. as the program dictates.
- Work collaboratively with all other district and department personnel.
- Communicate effectively with the Program Manager through phone, email, or text messages.
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager
