Position: Behavioral Interventionist- Part Time Seasonal
Summary:
This position would report to the OST Specialists. Establish rapport and meaningful relationships with referred children to reduce their disruptive behavior at camp; to improve their behavior and social relationships. Campers age range is 4K-5th Grade. Coach/train staff when it comes to behavior management.
Hours:
40 hours a week between the hours of 7 am - 5:30 pm, M-F. June 16-August 20, 2025. July 4, 2025 off.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study required. Minimum of two years paid experience working with school age children in a school setting or similar experience. Experience working with students exhibiting behavioral challenges preferred.
Program Preparation:
Involvement in training of camp staff, maintaining high professional standards during the training process.
Responsibilities:
Train, develop, and coach staff in regards to behavior intervention management skills.
During program hours rotating through different groups to observe and offer feedback as necessary.
Use conversation, group discussions, games, behavior management techniques, and other approaches to achieve prescribed goals with individual children experiencing minor to major adaptation problems of a behavioral or social nature during the summer camp program.
Converse with staff on how to handle participants and establish an atmosphere to encourage their expression of feelings and ideas; deal effectively and constructively with such feelings and ideas; implement anger management and decision-making strategies with students.
Aid staff in self-reflection and mindfulness strategies to better work with participants.
Help to build confidence and self-esteem in participants through one-to-one and/or group interactions.
Provide support for participants during field trips and special events during camp.
When indicated by the team, meet with other staff and/or parents to gain additional relevant information about referred children so as to better understand their current behavior; provide feedback as needed; provide assistance to staff in implementing positive behavior strategies.
