Facility Support - Cleaner

Shift : 2nd shift and weekends

Job Summary :

This position is responsible for cleaning floors, gym, walking track, classrooms, offices, stairwells and restrooms to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. Cleaners are responsible for the cleanliness of assigned areas and maintaining the areas in a safe and sanitary condition. This position may also include room set-up and take-down duties.

Nature of Work :

Under general supervision, a Cleaner is responsible for the cleanliness, and orderliness of assigned specific areas in the building. The work requires a degree of initiative since cleaners are expected to work independently in the performance of normal work activities. Instructions are received from the Head Custodian on matters of policy, procedures, and new assignments. The head custodian and / or department administrators give daily routine instructions. Performance feedback is received through review of methods and results.

Duties :

• Routine housekeeping and sanitation of assigned areas.
• Typical duties will be sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors and other surfaces; cleaning and dusting furniture, windows, doors, trim, and related furnishings; using buffing machines and walking behind floor scrubbing machines; cleaning and servicing lavatories, toilet rooms, and restrooms; move furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment as directed; collect and dispose of paper and refuse; clean and wax furniture and do related work, as required.
• May be required to close and secure the building windows and door and set the security alarm. Personnel performing work in this classification is assigned to second-shift work and first-shift weekend hours.
