Part-Time Veterinary Custodian/Kennel Assistant (NO Animal Handling) Entry-level Position

It is a part-time position; great for afterschool workers. With a work schedule of 3 to 5 weekday afternoons beginning between 12pm and 2 pm. A work shift ends when all duties are completed- generally between 5:30 pm to 6 pm. Wages are between $11-13/hr. Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to lift 40lbs.
This Custodian/Kennel assistant position is essential to help keep our vet hospital stocked and clean. The right candidate is self-motivated, enjoys cleaning and organizing, enjoys working around pets (but will not be handling them), and enjoys physical activity.
We are looking for an individual who will help support our staff, works well (primarily) independently or with supervision. Daily and weekly checklists are provided. The ideal applicant will not only complete these checklists and be flexible and willing to take on additional tasks at any given time.
In addition, the ideal candidate pays attention to detail, is organized, able to prioritize tasks, and takes great pride in their work, whatever it may be.
The following is a list of general job duties, functions, and responsibilities. This list is a portion of the responsibilities and is not considered all-inclusive.
· Cleaning surgical suite, properly cleaning, packing and sterilizing surgical instruments, also other tools or equipment.
· Stocking supplies such as syringes, needles, catheters, fluid bags, and other medical supplies. Stocking supplies may involve lifting boxes of these supplies (up to 40lb or more than 40lb. with assistance), reaching or stooping.
· May be exposed to foul odors of animal urine, feces, and vomit.
· Sweeping up hair and dander.
· Wiping down surfaces high and low (requires stooping and bending), cleaning animal cages and runs.
· Responsible for miscellaneous building and grounds maintenance (such as trash/debris pick-up, watering potted plants)
· Vacuuming and mopping.
· Laundry (heavy soiled and large volume).
· Other miscellaneous janitorial duties as needed.
Our clinic depends on our custodian/kennel assistants to help with our housekeeping, allowing our doctors and nurses to focus on our patients.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
