Encourage and value independence by providing opportunities, while supporting advocacy for individual preferences for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Dedicated, adaptable and knowledgeable in leadership in residential and community settings. T his position is responsible for ensuring staffing coverage, supervision of employees and staff training compliance.
Essential job functions include :
Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and address concerns with team members as they arise, while upholding professional and supportive communication. Must be reliable, trustworthy and a self-starter. Ensure person-centered activities that provide opportunities to fulfill their dreams, wishes and interests. Promote community integration and social activities. Respect the basic needs of people supported to assist with cultivating relationships. Assist with finances, home and vehicle maintenance, safety and oversight of community and residential settings. Oversee that documentation and charting is completed and organized. Model and teach intervention techniques developed and recommended by the behavioral health team. Effectively communicates with families, guardians and team members to ensure quality service delivery. Proven ability to demonstrate tact, good judgment, and initiative in interactions. Exhibits professional demeanor in language, dress and behavior. Provide on-call support as required.
Essential Job Requirements :
- Minimum 1 to 2 years' leadership experience supporting people with IDD in their homes and surrounding community.
- 2 to 3 years' experience as a Direct Support Professional.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving background.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Computer literacy required.
