What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Counselor Relief position at West Bergen Mental Healthcare?
Seeking qualified applicants to work in our Residential Program. Relief positions are for fill in work. You will be called and given the opportunity to work when another staff member is out, whether for vacation, sick, etc. Work locations include Ridgewood and local surrounding towns.
The positions in our Residential Program provide supervision and support to clients living in a group home or apartment/community setting. The Residential Worker encourages residential client’s wellness and recovery through group activities, education in daily living skills, supportive counseling and medication management.
Qualifications are flexible with either a degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a mental health, health, or other appropriate human services related discipline; or a combination of one or more years of college plus related work or life experience together equaling four years (The individual is required to have at least one year of related work or life experience, if the four year college education does not meet the requirements above);or a license as a practical nurse plus two years of related work or life experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent, with four years of related work or life experience. Valid driver’s license. Good driving record, meeting the recommendations of Agency Automotive Insurer preferred.
In addition, the position requires CPR/First Aid training, to be obtained prior to providing services alone and within 30 days of hire. We will provide the training if none currently exists.
The position requires meeting of documentation standards, and required clinical competencies as identified. Basic computer/keyboarding skills, including familiarity with word processing programs, (MS Word preferred) for report writing, forms, records, letters, etc., ability to learn and use the electronic client record keeping system, additional requirements may occur as specific job needs evolve. Understanding of various treatment theories and modalities, which are considered as standard or usual in the treatment of the adult psychiatric population and their families, needed.
