Chef

Oakdale Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center is seeking a Part-time Chef on the 11:00am - 7:30pm shift, working every other weekend & 1 day during the week. As part of the Dining Services team at Oakdale Rehabilitation, providing an exceptional dining experience for our residents is very important. Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are key to be successful in this role.

Pay Range (Dependent on Experience): $20.00 - $23.12/hr

Summary:

Prepares nutritional meals for Residents and direct kitchen operations.

Skills:

• Ability to supervise and work cooperatively with others.
• Initiative and Judgment in setting up meals, seasoning food, and estimating food requirements.
• Ability to maintain assigned work hours. Has sufficient endurance to perform tasks over a long period of time.
• Must have the ability to perform essential functions without posing a direct threat to residents or other staff.

Minimal Qualifications:

At least one year of institutional cooking experience required.

Essential Functions:

• Prepares all food according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner.
• Ensures proper preparation, portioning and serving of food according to standardized recipes
• Prepares therapeutic diets in accordance with a specific care plan.
• Works closely with Food Service Supervisor and Dietitian on menu preparation and meeting the nutritional needs of the residents.
• Responsible for meeting designated meal schedules.
• Creates meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Supervises and directs dietary Aides in the operation of the Kitchen and Dining areas.
• Responsible for the care of food service equipment and reporting malfunctioning equipment to maintenance.
• Attends mandatory In-Service as required.
• Observes infection control procedures and maintains appropriate safety standards.
• A report to work as scheduled and demonstrates dependability.
• Works cooperatively with Food Service Staff and other departments.
• Ability to use computer i.e., Meal Tracker
• Put away supplies, food order in absence of the FSD.

Educational:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, speak and write English at a 10th grade level.
