Job Goal: To provide meals to each child with the highest nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness,
cheerfulness, and personal caring.
Qualifications:
Required: Massachusetts ServSafe Certified
Demonstrate aptitude for successful performance of tasks listed.
Preferred: Two (2) or more years of previous food service experience.
Must have knowledge of food service equipment and of institutional meal preparation
Appropriate oral & written communication skills
Responsibilities:
Responsible for assigning and training each person in the kitchen to a specific job in the meal
preparation process.
Responsible for maintaining proper HACCP procedures
Responsible for preparation and serving of USDA/DESE compliant meals
Assists in general operation of the program (POS computer, operating dish machine, serving
meals, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen and serving lines etc)
Responsible for daily banking deposits
Responsible for checking in orders, putting stock away, and inventory control
Completes a daily production control sheet indicating all items used in food production.
Responsible for placing orders weekly for grocery, produce, milk, bread, paper goods and
cleaning supplies.
Utilizes “leftovers” in the best possible manner
Performs all duties as necessary or assigned by the Director of Food Services.
Physical Requirements:
The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs and a step
stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion such as reaching,
bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling objects. The position requires lifting of 40
pounds on a frequent basis and over 40 pounds occasionally. The occupant is expected to wear
vinyl gloves and proper hair restraints when serving and working with food. The occupant is
expected to follow the uniform policy set by the Director of Food Services.
