What are the responsibilities and job description for the ESOL Coordinator 25/26 SY-West Broward Academy position at West Broward Academy?
Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing a comprehensive ESOL program; training and coaching staff in the use of effective, research-based methodologies leading to English proficiency development and the academic success of ELLs participating in problem-solving programmatic determinations. Identifying staff developmental needs of the school and providing staff development related to English language proficiency development as part of the problem-solving process; and expanding relationships with school and community groups to help ELL’S reach their highest potential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understands how students learn and provides learning opportunities that support intellectual, social, and personal development of diverse learners.
- Evaluate student progress and use formal and informal assessment strategies to determine whether students have achieved high standards and modifies instructional strategies as needed to maximize achievement.
- Conduct Ongoing Professional Development as needed.
- Ensure compliance with District requirements.
- Test and document all students as per result of Home Language Survey within the statutory timeline.
- Complete all testing and documentation required for the beginning of the school year.
- Ensure TERMS/SIS updated by providing all required information monthly.
- Review and maintain Ellevation/District ELL Database updated and monitor requirements daily, including but not limited to parent communication and meetings.
- Meet all compliance requirements based on DEUSS dates.
- Maintain all Blue Folders updated with all the required documentation.
- Provide students and parents with timely data for improvement in student achievement.
- Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies.
- Create/maintain/provide ESOL flyers on recurring issues/topics for parents and/or students.
- Provide resources/guidance to parents to help them better support their students.
- Offer parent events as directed by the principal.
- Work effectively with school colleagues, parents, and the community to support students’ learning and well-being.
- Actively engages in professional development opportunities.
- Performs other related duties as required
