The Communications Specialists is responsible for many facets of activities, programs, and events happing in the Quincy Senior & Family Resource Center. This role is vital to help keep the clients we serve active and involved in our community. Main duties include coordination of activities, event planning, space rental, trip planning and management, volunteer coordination, and development of new activities.
Additionally, the Communications Specialist will work with the community to plan, organize, facilitate, and direct new recreational and activity programs to engage community members such as sports, games, arts/crafts, and others to assist clients to develop interpersonal relationships, socialize effectively, and develop confidence. Special attention should be paid to special populations including those people with physical disabilities/impairments and those with mental deficiencies, including Alzheimer’s Disease and related disorders.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with and assisting elderly populations as well as strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to oversee activities and adjust content, ability to exercise judgement, proficient computer skills, experience working in geriatric settings, and physically able to perform duties such as standing for long periods, bending, lifting as required.
Other job duties include but are not limited to:
· Schedule routine building meetings/room uses
· Meet with outside parties to discuss room rentals
· Book room rentals and work with Catering Staff for food orders
· Make certain rooms are set and ready for meetings/activities including food
· Make and post directional signs for meetings/activities
· Prepare building calendars to post and distribute to applicable departments in the building
· Coordinate and manage trips and discuss and promote with potential clients
· Attend the monthly dance and/or coordinate volunteers
· Prepare and select the monthly movies including preparation of the popcorn and soda for sale
· Advertise monthly activities
· Prepare set up sheets for Maintenance Department weekly
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.97 - $21.97 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
