JOB DESCRIPTION
The Recycling Attendant in this position will operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and loaders on a daily basis. Using specialized equipment, they will load and unload trucks and bale/bundle recyclable materials for transport. They are also responsible for keeping the work area neat and orderly. Safe driving is crucial when traveling and maneuvering the equipment on high traffic / congested roadways, driveways, and lots around other vehicles and under highlines. A high level of skill especially regarding backing maneuvers is essential to being successful in this role.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
- Must successfully complete and pass applicable pre-employment background check, driving record, and drug screening
- Ability to perform the physical requirements and demands of the position
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- 1 year or more of relevant work experience in transportation, driving or heavy equipment is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work a consistent work schedule, as punctuality is required
- Ability to operate large, heavy-duty vehicles
- Ability to drive safely
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
- Ability to operate a tablet / basic computer skills
- Ability to learn new processes
- Strong work ethic
- Focus on safety
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate forklift and other heavy equipment safely while baling, loading, and unloading
- Assist in keeping the work area neat and orderly
- Operate equipment in accordance within WCS Safety, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws
- Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to your Supervisor or Dispatch
- Attend and participate in training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WCS or as directed by your Supervisor
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Ability to problem solve, prioritize tasks, and manage time well
- Ability to work with and support co-workers and team members
- Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
- Willingness to work extra time and/or do extra tasks on certain days as needed
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
- Complete other job-related duties as assigned or apparent
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THIS POSITION
- Ability to safely lift objects weighing 50 pounds
- Ability to safely push, pull, bend, twist, sit, stand, and frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift objects up to 100 pounds
- Ability to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT
