The mission of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance (EOC), part of WCU’s leadership, is to provide leadership and expertise to West Chester University to advance its commitment to the principles of inclusivity, service, and academic excellence. Through programmatic and educational initiatives, collaborative partnerships, and outreach, the office cultivates an environment that welcomes all.
Reporting directly to the Vice President for Access, Compliance, and Engagement, the Assistant Vice President and Director of Equal Opportunity and Compliance is a key member of the leadership team. The Assistant Vice President and Director of Equal Opportunity and Compliance is primarily responsible for providing leadership for responding to and managing all Title IX and Equal Opportunity (for all protected classes) issues at WCU. This position also serves as the University’s 504 Coordinator. Working collaboratively with university stakeholders, the incumbent will develop, review, monitor, update, and enforce WCU ADA, Title IX, equal opportunity, and related policies and procedures that promote equitable learning and working environments free from discrimination and harassment. The incumbent will mentor and supervise direct reports and office staff. The Assistant Vice President and Director of Equal Opportunity and Compliance fosters and maintains collaborative relationships within the University, community partners, and governmental liaisons to support overall strategic goals and objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist the division’s Vice President with identifying and addressing issues related to access, compliance, and/or prevention
- Ensure compliance with Equal Employment/Educational Opportunity, Title IX and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) through well-defined measures, procedures, data collection and analysis
- Develop, review, monitor, update, and enforce WCU ADA, Title IX, equal opportunity, and related policies and procedures that promote equitable learning and working environments free from discrimination and harassment
- Supervise staff responsible for:
- coordinating intake, managing the case database, and collaborating with the Clery Compliance Officer, and
- conducting investigations into complaints of misconduct, harassment, or discrimination
- Ensure the coordination of prevention training and strategic outreach
- Partner with Human Resources/Labor Relations as it relates to the prevention and resolution of workplace discrimination and harassment for all protected classes
- Serve on University committees and develop collaborative campus connections to position the EOC as partners on university initiatives and programs
- Chair the University’s ADA committee
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Master’s degree in Law, Education, Human Resources, Public Administration, or a closely related field plus at least 7 years of working experience in one or more of the following areas: student conduct, Title IX, equal opportunity/affirmative action (Title VI, Title VII, and/or ADA), human resources, or discrimination and harassment investigations.

JD or Doctorate degree plus at least 4 years of working experience in one or more of the following areas: student conduct, Title IX, equal opportunity/affirmative action (Title VI, Title VII, and/or ADA), human resources, or discrimination and harassment investigations.
- Experience and/or training responding to complaints of sexual harassment and sexual violence, as well as complaint investigation, resolution, and /or grievances
- Experience leading, collaborating, and creatively solving problems
- Experience interpreting and applying knowledge of federal and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws and regulations, including Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, ADA, and other applicable laws and regulations. This includes appropriately determining context and applying sound judgment.
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally, and present dynamically to a variety of constituents. The includes appropriately reviewing, deescalating, and resolving conflicts.
- Experience working independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrated experience serving a diverse community
The position is mostly in-person with the possibility of working remote on occasion.
Starting salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Estimated salary ranges between $133, 447 and $148,844.
