The Department of Counseling & Psychological Services (The Counseling Center) invites applications for a non-classroom faculty-ranked Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Counselor, or Licensed Social Worker position. This is a 9-month full-Time, non-teaching, tenure track position. Faculty rank will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, expertise, and training. The position will begin in August 2025.

The mission of the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services (The Counseling Center) is to promote the optimal health of all WCU students through the provision of quality and culturally competent mental health services and education for the campus community. Learn more about
This non-teaching faculty position will a primary focus on providing mental health services to WCU students; provide short-term individual treatment, group therapy, counseling, crisis work, and outreach programming across campus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to the diverse needs of WCU students and collaborate with department counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other University health care professionals to provide care. The incumbent's schedule includes four in-office clinical days and one work-from-home day for service and scholarly activities. The schedule includes providing 24 clinical hours per week during the Fall and Spring Semesters. Additional compensation is given for those counselors that work during the winter and summer breaks.
Responsibilities include :
- Provide psychological counseling to the student population
- Provide short-term individual treatment, group therapy, counseling, crisis work, and outreach programming across campus
- Provide attention to the diverse needs of WCU students
- Collaborate with department psychologists / counselors, psychiatrists, and other University health care professionals
- Engage in scholarly activities (i.e., professional publications and presentations)
- Serve the University and the community through participation in various committees
- Supervise graduate-level trainees
- Perform other duties as assigned
