The Global Engagement Office (GEO) leads the WCU community of educators in developing and preparing students to become globally aware and engaged members of a diverse society.
Reporting to the Associate Provost for Global Engagement, the Associate Director manages and develops faculty-staff led programs; advises potential study abroad students, administers risk management programs, and oversees budget and technology related to study abroad.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate professional experience advising students and managing studying abroad programs with faculty and campus partners; working with external travel abroad vendors; risk management; using social media tools and the ability to communicate and collaborate with campus constituents – both internal and external to the university.

Responsibilities include:
- Serve as the primary faculty and staff-led program manager and liaison to the University’s six colleges to ensure that programs serve the academic goals of each academic department and college
- Lead education abroad program development initiatives to ensure proper curricular and co-curricular integration
- Monitor international travel risk assessment, travel policies, program development, budgets, Via TRM software training, risk management, in-country program management, and the recruitment, preparation, and retention of program participants
- Oversee the recruitment, enrollment, pre-departure orientation and re-entry of faculty/staff-led education abroad participants
- Engage and coordinate with key administrative and academic constituencies and community stakeholders to support student and faculty success in international programs
- Plan, organize, and execute annual study abroad fairs and outreach activities
- Advise all potential study abroad students interested in studying outside of the U.S. on faculty/staff-led programs and provides guidance about the region, host country, and appropriate visa requirements
- Master's degree
- Three (3) years of experience coordinating and managing study abroad programs
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience using study abroad management systems (Via-TRM)
- Experience working with faculty-led abroad programs
- Risk/Crisis Management Experience
- Experience with higher education systems such as PeopleSoft, SAP, BI, D2L, and OnBase
- Experience using social media tools
