The Technician will use specialized knowledge of HVAC equipment, electrical systems and Building Automation controls to ensure economic, reliable operation of sophisticated and complex integrated environmental control systems for the proper operation of a complex institutional campus with over 50 buildings. The selected candidate will be monitoring, scheduling, troubleshooting, testing, calibration, adjustment of sensing equipment, control devices, and systems. The selected candidate must be subject to work in closed spaces, in crawl spaces and in a dust-laden atmosphere. This position must be able to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities include:
- Diagnoses building automation systems hardware and software failures and recommends or performs minor repairs and adjustments or refers to the appropriate service personnel for resolution
- Provides user support services and technical advice to BAS users
- Conducts informal training for users or technical staff for BAS system use for troubleshooting
- Performs work in a centralized support capacity providing university wide technical assistance on BAS software and establishes and implements department-wide building operation standards
- Utilizes various types of tools and techniques to test, verify, troubleshoot, and resolve building and equipment control problems
- Monitors building performance using building automation system and controls
- Interprets information provided by building automation system tools in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of HVAC and electrical equipment and systems
- Implements energy management procedures provided by Energy Projects Manager
- Responds to BAS alerts and diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves systems performance problems in conjunction with technical staff and escalates problems when required
- Participates in designing energy management schedules and programs including all hardware and software necessary in conjunction with building controls vendor for system operation and functionality and assists in preparing design plans/processes and specifications for acquisition and implementation
- Participates in the installation or updates of controls to improve system monitoring, alarming and operations for building automation efficiency
- Plans, designs, tests, and places into action building schedules to improve energy usage models
- Reviews technical manuals and other literature, attend seminars, conferences, and training classes to maintain currency with new building automation controls technologies
- Provides technical assistance in the development of contract specifications
- Monitors contractor performance in providing services and equipment in accordance with specifications
- Conducts feasibility and cost comparison studies and makes recommendations based on the findings
- Perform duties with building automation systems and controls, water distribution and HVAC mechanical systems, or related technical fields
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance tasks for the control systems including point-to-point check-out of pneumatic/electronic controls, pressure controllers/recorders, and sensor calibration
- Adjust valves and controls to balance sub-stems in order to assure proper performance of heating/cooling coils, and air distribution systems
- Initiate requests for adjustment in air conditioning settings to assure more efficient operation
- Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs/replaces and adjusts pneumatic, electronic-mechanical and electronic controls
- Provide timely response to diagnose source of customer comfort concerns, analyze systems requirements, test components, and recommend corrective action is necessary
- Adjusts, relocates, adds and removes thermostats are required for building occupants comfort.
- Perform and maintains records for all preventative maintenance
- Able to trend data in order to track equipment efficiency
- Able to interpret electrical, and HVAC systems blueprints and diagrams
- Utilize a mobile device for accessing and completing work orders and maintaining workflows
- Performs other related duties as required
- One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician;
- OR
- Successful completion of the Information Technology Intern – Bachelor Program;
- OR
- One year of experience providing information technology support services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance within a network environment, and an associate's degree in any information technology field;
- OR
- Three years of experience providing information technology support services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance within a network environment; OR
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience providing information technology support services including hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance within a network environment
- Valid driver's license
Experience and/or training in WebCntrl
