The medium voltage electrical shop foreman manages and oversees the daily operation of the West Chester University’s Electric Shop. The selected candidate will oversee and participate in a variety of skilled duties involving the operation and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems and associated equipment with a voltage above 480V and below 23,00V.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage all maintenance, and project work orders (WO) through Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Reviews WO's daily via CMMS. Assign, schedule, and complete with all necessary data.
- Plan, supervise, assign, and inspect all work performed by a highly skilled group of journeyman level electricians and helpers.
- Oversee all maintenance, and repair of Campus wide electrical systems and its components.
- Performs skilled tasks in laying out, installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical components and systems.
- Ensure all staff is performing work in a safety conscious matter, in accordance with all State, Federal, and University codes/requirements.
- Make accurate estimates of labor, costs, and materials via blueprints and physical inspections.
- Set up and oversee all electrical work performed on campus by outside vendors.
- Communicate accordingly with all customers, informing them of job status.
- Manage vehicles assigned to the Electrical shop Le. ensure vehicles are inspected, stocked, and kept in a clean and neat manner.
- Orders materials, including tools necessary to complete the work.
- Manages, and maintains employees' time, and attendance in accordance with the required staffing levels.
- Performs annual evaluations of subordinates.
- Assists in recruitment and hiring of electricians.
- Stays up to date with new technology surrounding the electrical trade.
- Conduct on-the-job training for staff, and review updated local, state, and federal codes.
- Maintain accurate truck and shop inventory list.
- Provide direction and coordination for in-house electrical projects on campus.
- Construct Preventative Maintenance plans and procedures for existing and new equipment.
- Utilize a mobile device for accessing and completing work order and maintenance workflows.
- Coordinates work with other shops when other trades.
- Ensure that all tasks assigned are performed with a high level of quality, and customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.
As a member of the Facilities Divisional staff, this position is deemed essential. Essential employees must remain or report to work during partial or full day closings of the University due to hazardous road conditions, emergency circumstances or for other reasons. The selected candidate must be available to work overtime as required.
- One year of experience as a Medium Voltage Electrician;
OR - Six years of journey-level experience in the electrical trade, including one year of experience in medium voltage electrical work;
OR - An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of experience in medium voltage electrical work.
- Valid driver's license.
- NFPA 70 certification.
