Lifeguard Description
Lifeguards maintain safety and enforce all facility rules. While also a customer service position, lifeguards primary responsibility is the safety of all facility users. This person must be friendly and polite while enforcing rules and program policies. Maintaining an organized and clean environment is essential to safety and this position will include shift specific cleaning duties to be completed.
Essential All-Shift Duties
- Maintain swimmer safety at all times
- Enforce all facility rules
- Respond to emergencies and administer First-Aid when needed
- Maximize enjoyment of all facility users by directing customers to lanes, sharing when necessary, assisting anyone that needs help and communicating any safety concerns
Closing Shift Duties
- Cleaning (locker rooms, pool deck, viewing area)
- Trash consolidated and taken out
- Turn off lights, heaters and secure all windows and doors
Requirements
- Lifeguard & CPR Certified: we prefer if this candidate is already certified, but we regularly offer classes throughout the year and will reimburse the cost of the class and ongoing recertifications.
- Must be 16 years or older
- Strong Customer Service Skills: This role will interact with customers, parents, athletes and must be outgoing, friendly and personable, yet decisive and firm when necessary.
- Organized & Detail Oriented: We work in a fast paced environment and safety is our top concern. Lifeguards must be able to self-start and manage their time appropriately to complete cleaning tasks and maintain swimmer safety during each shift.
Compensation
Base Pay: The starting pay rate for this position is $19 per hour and will reflect the experience and qualifications of the applicant.
Benefits: Employees working more than 24 hours per week (on average) during the normal season (September through June) will qualify for medical, vision and dental insurance with 50% employer contribution.
End-Of-Year Bonus: during profitable years, the board will award a portion of profits to be split between employees based on individual performance, contribution and longevity.
Salary : $19
