Construction Estimator
Job Summary
Prepares and estimates budget costs for construction projects by studying plans and specifications. Evaluates offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and costing changes.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare detailed take off construction estimates. Candidate Must possess a general understanding and have the ability to price all 16 divisions of work.
· Analyzing projects on a pre-bid basis for strengths and weaknesses and compile a list of questions for bid walk discussions.
· Obtaining pricing from the competitive bid market and accurately qualify bids received.
· Working with Project Managers to negotiate new work with established clients.
· Perform estimating with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
· Building and maintaining positive relationships with Clients, Subcontractors, Vendors, Architects and Company Personnel.
· Determining creative ways to keep costs down, ensuring goals and objectives are met.
· Communicate regularly with Project Managers to ensure project success
· Maintain database of Subcontractors and Material Vendors
· Perform bid walks, compile bid notes and information, accurately record the information in BIDMAIL and be able to read drawings and put together RFI’s to send to the Client and Architects.
· Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on client/project needs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Have a working knowledge of remodel, new build and T.I. types of construction projects. Experience with retail/convenience stores & fast-food environment projects is a Plus.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe and BIDMAIL
· Ability to work independently with little to no assistance
· A highly motivated, self-starter that can accurately multi-task
· Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience & Education:
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Preferred)
· Construction Estimating: 3 years (Preferred)
· Construction: 3 years (Preferred)
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Walking, climbing stairs, sitting and standing
· Reach with hands and arms
Compensation & Benefits:
· Position is Full-time, Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm, with weekends off
· Salary $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year (depending on experience)
