JUNIOR ESTIMATOR
JOB SUMMARY
Prepares Bid Estimates for construction projects by studying plans and specifications. Evaluates offers to purchase based on site requirements, additions, and cost changes.
Responsibilities:
· Prepares detailed quantity take off of construction projects for bidding purposes. Must possess a general understanding and could price all 16 divisions (trades) of construction work.
· Analyzes projects on a pre-bid basis for strengths and weaknesses and compile a list of questions for bid walk discussions.
· Obtains pricing from the competitive bid market and accurately qualify subcontractor bids received.
· Working with Senior Estimator and Project Managers to negotiate new work with established clients.
· Performs estimating work with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
· Builds and maintains positive relationships with Clients, Subcontractors, Vendors, Architects and Company Personnel.
· Determines creative ways to keep costs competitive, ensuring goals and objectives are met.
· Communicate regularly with Senior Estimator to ensure bid proposals success
· Maintains database of Subcontractors and Vendors
· Perform bid walks, compile bid notes and information, accurately record the information and able to read drawings and put together RFI’s to send to the Client and Architects.
· Supervise Bid Coordinator/s on projects specifically assigned to work on an estimate.
· Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on client/project needs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Have a working knowledge of remodel, new build and T.I. types of construction projects. Experience with retail/convenience stores & fast-food environment projects is a Plus.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Blue Beam (Revu) and BidMail.
· Ability to work independently with little assistance
· A highly motivated, self-starter that can accurately multi-task
· Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Walking, climbing stairs, sitting and standing
· Reach with hands and arms
Compensation & Benefits:
· Position is Full-time, Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm, with weekends off
· $30 - $35 per hour (depending on experience)
