JOB OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our Occidental Area Health Center. The ideal candidate will serve as a vital link between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for all patients. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of medical terminology. The Patient Representative will work in a fast-paced environment, assisting patients with their needs and inquiries while maintaining professionalism. This role is primarily responsible for assisting patients with managing phone calls, scheduling appointments, patient paperwork, and information management within the electronic health record.
Position is a full time, on-site role located in Occidental, California and requires some evening (12p-8:30p) and Saturday (8:30a-12p) schedules.
DUTIES
- Schedule appointments and manage provider schedules.
- Answer patient inquiries regarding services, procedures, and insurance information.
- Maintain patient records efficiently with accurate documentation of patient interactions in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure seamless patient care and communication.
- Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.
- Educate patients on office policies, procedures, and available services.
- Address any concerns or complaints promptly to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Assist in processing referrals.
- Assist with clinical data outcome reporting and actively participate in quality improvement projects.
- Greet patients at the front desk warmly.
- Must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and WCHC policies.
EXPERIENCE
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
- Previous experience in an office or medical office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical administrative support functions.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is essential for effective communication with healthcare professionals.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients and staff alike.
- Proficiency in using office software and electronic health record systems is beneficial.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to move freely about the clinic/office and carry light loads (up to 25 lbs.)
- Prolonged standing and /or sitting required.
- Ability to interface with electronic office equipment for extended periods of time.
