Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner PMHNP
We are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team and provide high-quality, compassionate care to our patients. This position will be responsible for providing comprehensive, integrated mental health and behavioral health care to patients in the Saint Louis area and surrounding communities. This job utilizes a high degree of knowledge, training, skill level, and competence in a specialized area of psychiatry and mental health. Assess, formulate a diagnosis, initiate an integrated treatment plan, coordinate interventions, and evaluate the process toward recovery of individuals with severe, persistent, and debilitating mental illness within the scope of formal collaborative practice agreement with our psychiatrist (MD).
Our enthusiastic and tight-knit Clinical Admin team will handle patient scheduling, patient management/intake, pharmacy communications and all other administrative work to help you focus your time on the most important thing - providing care to the patients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and psychotherapy.
- Develop treatment plans for clients, including medication management, behavioral health, and other mental health issues.
- Provide counseling/educational support on medications used during sessions with clients.
- Maintain detailed records of patient visits and progress.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patient continuity of care.
- Educate patients and families about mental health and emotional disorders.
- Participates in professional development and life-long learning.
- Prescribes, monitors, and manages psychotropic medications to adults with severe mental illness through an advanced and integrated assessment, diagnosis, and intervention in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician (psychiatrist). Prescriptive responsibilities are reviewed by the collaborative physician.
- Provides supportive psychotherapy and coordinates the psychiatric care of a select client population with focus on client-centered mental health treatment toward the goal of recovery.
- Provide consultation regarding psychiatric symptoms, co-occurring medical conditions, and appropriate psychiatric interventions.
- Prescribe prescriptions that are appropriate and assist with medication management.
- Provide direct clinical services to clients on an individual basis in the office, making appropriate changes in treatment plan as indicated.
- Refer clients for appropriate specialists or primary care physicians as indicated to promote recovery and overall health.
- Develop, maintain, and supervise psychopharmacologic and medical treatment and medication policies and procedures including administering, evaluating, and recording psychotropic medications. Evaluate and chart psychotropic medication effectiveness, complications, and side effects, and arrange for required lab work according to protocol.
Requirements
- Valid PMHNP license.
- Valid DEA license.
- At least 1 year of office experience.
- Willingness to prioritize patient care.
- Proficiency with word processing and computer skills; comfortable adapting to new software and workflow updates.
- Knowledge of mental health and emotional disorders
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Qualification
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner in the State of Missouri
- Current licensure by state and/or national board for nurse practitioners (PNPs) or registered with American Board of Registered Nursing, Certified Clinical Nurse Practitioner or National Board on Certification of Physician Assistants
