Role: Primary Appointments Veterinary Assistant
Location: West Creek Animal Clinic Richmond, VA
Starting Pay Rate will be based on experience as followed:
1 year of previous veterinary assistant work: $14.00 - $15.00/ hr.
2 -3 years of previous veterinary assistant work: $15.00 - $16.00/ hr.
3 years of previous veterinary assistant work: $16.00-$17.00/ hr.

We are a small animal practice seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant. West Creek Animal Clinic is open Monday through Friday 7:30AM to 6PM and is a growing, progressive, locally owned, 3 doctor practice.
At least one year of experience is required in order to be considered, 2 years of experience is preferred, and current fear free certification is a plus but not mandatory as we will provide that training on site.
Compensation is based upon level of experience and ability to jump right in.
As a veterinary assistant at WCAC, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians, clinic team, and our animal patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in routine examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and treatment
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Perform laboratory testing
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
- Monitor, care for, and ensure the well-being of hospitalized animals
Qualifications:
- Experience as a veterinary assistant
- Passion for working with animals
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team
