Stable Hand/ Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Stable Hand/Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with horses, a strong work ethic, and a passion for animal care. This role combines stable duties with veterinary assistance, requiring a dependable individual who thrives in a team environment and is comfortable handling large animals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Stall Maintenance: Clean and maintain stalls, and treatment rooms to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
• Feeding & Watering: Provide appropriate feed and fresh water to horses, adhering to individualized dietary requirements.
• Patient Care: Assist veterinarians with treatments, including administering medications, wound care, and monitoring patient recovery.
• Radiographs & Procedures: Help with equine radiographs, lameness evaluations, and procedure preparation, ensuring proper handling and positioning of patients.
• Exercise & Lameness Evaluations: Jog horses as needed for lameness exams or other assessments.
• Heavy Lifting: Must be able to lift and carry 50-pound hay bales, feed bags, and other supplies as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with horses is required.
• Comfortable handling and working around large animals.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding role, including lifting, bending, and working in various conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
• Experience in a veterinary or equine care setting is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
