A Sankofa Univeristy School Age Instructor is responsible for supervising and engaging students in a variety of educational and recreational activities during after school and out of school time hours, including providing homework assistance, leading enrichment programs, maintaining a safe environment, and communicating with parents regarding student progress, all while fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
Key responsibilities:
- Student supervision:
Actively monitor student safety and behavior during program hours, ensuring adherence to rules and guidelines.
- Curriculum development:
Plan and implement engaging lesson plans and activities aligned with students' needs and interests, incorporating academic support and enrichment opportunities.
- Homework assistance:
Provide guidance and support to students with their homework assignments.
- Activity leadership:
Lead diverse activities like arts and crafts, sports, games, STEM projects, and field trips.
- Communication with parents:
Regularly update parents on student progress, behavior, and program activities through written reports, conferences, or online platforms.
- Classroom management:
Maintain a positive and organized learning environment, promoting collaboration and respect among students.
- Collaboration with staff:
Work effectively with other after-school program staff to ensure smooth program delivery and student support.
Required skills:

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with an education or creative and performing arts degree or background
- 18 years of age or older
- Experience working with children in a classroom or after-school setting
- CPR and First Aid certification may be completed upon hire
- Background check-State and National
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
