As the Lifeguard at West End House, you will bring your knowledge of pool health and safety best practices, training in lifeguard rescue, and passion for aquatics instruction to your work. You will facilitate an effective swim program catered to a diverse community of youth, primarily between the ages of 8-18. You will be responsible for supervising all program activities in the pool while being prepared to step in and perform rescue procedures in case of an emergency. Additionally, you will ensure the physical space is well maintained and compliant with relevant regulations. You will use your talents working with young people to build close-knit relationships that will help youth remain engaged in the programming. This is a part-time role. We are looking for summer (seasonal) and year-round lifeguards. Shifts for the summer would be between 9:30 am and 6 pm with occasional evenings (Shifts are typically 4 -7.5 hours)

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the pool area during allocated swim time and be prepared to step in to perform rescue procedures, including through the provision of first aid, CPR, or other life-saving care treatment
- Complete and record water testing daily
- Provide aquatics instruction to youth through swim lessons
- Attract and recruit youth from within West End House programs as well as the broader community, to the swim program
- Build trusting relationships with the youth
- High school graduate
- LGT Certification (required)
- Minimum one year of lifeguarding experience preferred
- CPR/FPR and Standard First Aid Certification
- WSI Certification strongly preferred
- Past experience in aquatics program facilitation is a plus
- Proven track record of building trusting relationships with youth
- Strong group and/or program facilitation skills
