JOB SUMMARY
Provides assistance to surgical team. Knowledgeable in the proper function and use of surgical equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist physicians* as a sterile member of the operating room team by adhering to aseptic technique.
- Prepare medication under the direct supervision of the RN in charge of the case.
- Perform duties accurately and willingly when requested by the Director or the OR Charge Nurse.
- Follow proper procedure to report damaged equipment / instrumentation.
- Maintain a safe and quiet environment for the patients and clinical staff.
- Assist professional nursing staff by scrubbing on all types of surgical procedures in a cost-effective manner.
- Knowledgeable in the proper function and use of surgical equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent surgical harm or injury to patient or staff.
- Assist in the expedient turnover of surgical cases.
- Serve as a resource person and as a preceptor when the need arises.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma/GED.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a medical environment, preferably in an ambulatory surgery setting, strongly preferred.
- Must hold and maintain Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification, in accordance with American Heart Association training guidelines in effect at the time the training was conducted, prior to hire and/or transfer and throughout employment in this position.
