What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager - OSB position at West Fraser Joanna OSB Mill?

The Production Manager is responsible for the leadership, operation and staffing of crews for the daily production of oriented strand board (OSB). Production Manager is responsible for ensuring safe operation of equipment, quality of OSB, achieving production targets, and ensuring that operator-level maintenance is performed on all equipment at a very high standard. To that end, these responsibilities include but are not limited to:

What you will do:

  • Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning manufacturing requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering headcount and budgetary limitations and time constraints
  • Direct and coordinate production and labor to gain margin improvement
  • Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyze production, quality control, or other operational reports to detect production problems
  • Mentor assigned personnel and promote efficiency and build leadership and team skills
  • Direct process improvements in the work area to gain efficiencies
  • Communicate effectively with all team members and ensure miscommunications are minimized
  • Coordinate with other senior staff members on personnel, safety, finance, and purchasing issues, looking for ways to increase and enhance all functional areas
  • Lead by example
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager

What you need to be successful:

  • Demonstrated success leading a manufacturing team
  • Eligible to legally work in the United States
  • BS or BA diploma or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work as part of a team and deliver value to the team
