About the Role
The Quality Control Lab Technician is an integral part of our team, responsible for monitoring the quality of board production during assigned shifts. Key responsibilities include:
- Completing 2-3 board tests per shift, requiring the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Transporting test boards to the saw for cutting and disposing of excess material.
- Testing product according to West Fraser's OSB testing guidelines and procedures.
- Collecting strand samples from each strander every shift.
- Measuring boards throughout the shift using various tools.
- Communicating effectively with operators and management regarding board quality specifications.
- Assisting in troubleshooting quality issues when they arise.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A strong foundation in mathematics and legible handwriting.
- The ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, walking, and climbing constantly throughout the shift.
- Proficiency in operating a computer and basic hand tools.
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
