Forklift Operator Job Description
We are seeking an experienced forklift operator to join our team at West Fraser. As a forklift operator, you will play a critical role in transferring lumber between various plant operations while ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete equipment checks and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Transfer lumber between various plant operations and comply with applicable safety regulations.
- Perform key phases of Basic Care: inspection of equipment, service and minor adjustments to the equipment (when necessary), cleaning of the equipment, and documentation and reporting of results.
Requirements:
- Excellent safety record.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Must be willing to perform all job assignments in an effective and timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Forklift driver or heavy equipment loader experience is required.
Work Environment:
- Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environments.
- Must be able to bend, twist, lift, climb, stand throughout the duration of the shift.
- Rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends are required.
