Job Title:
Installation and Maintenance Technician
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is responsible for the installation and maintenance of machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
This includes troubleshooting and bench repair.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance on plant property and equipment.
- Specialize in maintenance on equipment employing hydraulics and/or pneumatic functions.
- Understand and follow established safety procedures throughout the mill, including lockout/tag-out, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, permitting for hot work and confined space.
- Operate mobile equipment, including man lifts, cranes, scissor lifts, and forklifts.
- Install, upgrade, or retrofit equipment used within an OSB mill environment.
- Complete detailed maintenance/inspection in accordance with manufacture or Company guidelines.
- Prepare basic drawings to support in-house fabrication requirements as needed.
- Complete maintenance work orders as necessary.
- Coordinate with the Electrical Section of the Maintenance Department as necessary to maximize maintenance efficiencies.
- Use various welding techniques for fabrication or repair of operating equipment.
- Read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to install and/or repair plumbing or air systems.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- The ability to troubleshoot all areas of mechanical malfunctions, including hydraulics and pneumatics, and take necessary corrective action to minimize downtime of machinery or equipment.
- Demonstrated competency with a variety of hand and power tools.
- Ability to complete assigned maintenance projects in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ability to perform essential mathematical/measurement functions using calculators or appropriate measuring devices.
- Knowledge of maintenance/inspection requirement for all plant property and equipment.
- Thorough understanding of workplace safety and lock out/tag out theory and practice.
- Computer literate, including use of Microsoft Office software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access).
Preferred Education/Experience:
- AA Degree with concentration in industrial maintenance.
- Five or more years of verifiable manufacturing maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, HVAC, welding, and fabricating.
- Project development experience from inception to completion.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Eligible to legally work in the United States.
- High School diploma or equivalent education.
- Will and able to work a 12-hour rotating schedule that will include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work as part of a team and deliver value to the team.
- Willingness and ability to cross-train to learn new jobs and skills.
- Consistent, predictable attendance.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, post-offer drug screen, and criminal background check.
