What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planer Supervisor position at West Fraser?
The Planer mill Supervisor will provide leadership, training, and development to leads and hourly employees by managing the process flow, resources, and workforce to meet and exceed established budgets and performance objects.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership for the department by being a role model in all and maintaining high standards in areas including safety, working relationships, quality, and training
- Oversee the day to day operations of the planer mill day shift employees and production goals
- Utilize established performance management system to develop direct reports in the best interest of West Fraser (costs, overtime, absenteeism, employee performance)
- Work with Superintendent to improve reliability and maximize equipment availability at the lowest cost to the mill through involvement and understanding of the business
- Provide employees with the tools and training to optimize safety and production
- Develop, implement, monitor, and report on systems for personnel development
- Effectively communicate goals to the team
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of proven leadership, vision, dedication & ability to mentor a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills – conflict management, coaching, supportive feedback, and problem-solving
- Strong mechanical and technical knowledge.
- Must be computer literate, including a strong background in MS Office
- Strong Organizational and Leadership Skills
- Detail and results-oriented
- Financial planning & budgeting experience
