Position Overview
This position performs a variety of duties related to food preparation and service, cashiering, receiving food and supplies, and kitchen sanitation. This position requires providing high quality products and services to the West Hartford School community.
Position Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to read, write, and interpret menus and other written tools.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate well with supervisor and co-workers, and with customers.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance.
- Must be capable of learning food sanitation and safety procedures.
- Must be able to follow directions in an efficient manner.
- Must be able to work in an environment that can reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to stoop, and bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of the job.
- Must be able to use hand strength to grasp tools, and reach with arms and hands.
- Prepares food as directed by supervisor or cook.
- Maintain production and temperature records for all foods, controlling quality and quantity of food.
- Serve meals to customers or perform cashiering functions during meal service.
- Receive products being delivered and assure proper storage.
- Perform basic cashier duties, including meal payment processing, maintaining students' meal accounts, computer functions, and maintaining petty cash.
- Clean and sanitize equipment following all required state and federal guidelines.
- Plan ahead for the week's menu, communicate needs with the supervisor and utilize food products to maintain freshness.
- Operate all cooking and cleaning equipment as instructed.
- Maintain dress code as instructed.
- All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
