Fast-paced and busy primary care clinic in West Hempstead, NY is seeking a friendly, professional, highly motivated and organized Bilingual Spanish Medical Scribe/ Medical Assistant to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the medical professionals at our facility by answering telephone calls, greeting patients, reviewing insurance information and scheduling appointments. Our medical clinic works with a large patient base, so it's vital that new hires are comfortable with administrative paperwork. You will also assist with marketing by keeping our online presence up to date. Our new hire will have access to comprehensive training opportunities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist the physician during patient encounters by documenting medical histories, physical exams, and treatment plans
- Accurately record information in electronic medical records (EMR), (eCW)
- Help with maintaining patient records, tracking follow-ups, and ensuring proper documentation of medical encounters
- Collaborate with the medical team to ensure timely and accurate charting
- Facilitate communication between the physician, patients, and other healthcare providers
- Support the physician in administrative duties related to patient care
- Greeting and welcoming patients
- Organizing and coordinating patient in-take and other appointments
- Accurately enters/updates patient information in system
- Assisting patients with completion of paperwork when necessary
- Scanning, updating and filing medical records
- Answering phone calls, questions, etc. in a prompt and polite manner
- Maintaining a professional attitude throughout your interactions with all patients, visitors or other members of the team.
- Processing medical insurance information, verifying patient eligibility, verifying patient identity and addressing any patient questions about insurance (liaise with Billing department as appropriate)
- Handling cash and co-payments accurately and responsibly
- Providing outstanding customer service to every patient
- Informing Office Manager of waiting room wait times, patient inquiries, etc.
- Follow up on cancellations, "no shows", and schedule follow up appointments to support patient retention.
- Keep all work areas clean, organized, and welcoming for our patients to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Obtain Vital signs, EKG, Height, Weight, Venipuncture, Urine collection, Specimen labeling etc.
- Provide translation when needed.
- Complete a variety of health forms and medical necessity letters under provider's direction.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
- Office Hours are as follows:
- Monday: 9AM- 7:30PM
- Tuesday: 9AM-6PM
-Wednesday 10AM-6PM
- Thursday 11AM-8PM
- Friday: 9AM-3PM
*********Experience with primary care office preferred but not required. Willing to train***************MUST BE FLUENT IN SPANISH!!!
