What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Teacher: Life Skills position at West High School?
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
- Requirements as set by the State of New Hampshire Certification Authorities and Board of School Committee regulations.
- State of NH Teacher Certification in Special Education (1900) or other approved certification status may be considered.
Specific Core Function:
- Develop and implement Indivual Education Plans (IEPs) for students age 16 to 18.
- Create/implenent pre-vocational programs for students that will remain in school until they are 22 years old.
- Case manage students that are in the program.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment that provides pre-vocational training around the school for students.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of IEP goals and objectives.
- Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated goals objectives.
Specified Length/Hours of Position:
This is an affiliated (MEA) position under the Teacher Association negotiated contract, following the school calendar with additional workshop days.
