Position Duties
Our history
West Hills Community College District has a rich history of serving the educational needs of the west side of the San Joaquin Valley for more than 80 years. The district covers nearly 3,500 square miles with colleges in Lemoore and Coalinga, the Firebaugh Center and three child development centers throughout neighboring rural communities, and the Farm of the Future facility at the north end of Coalinga.
Summary
Lemoore College (LC) is offering a full-time, tenure track position in Counseling. The successful candidate must be dedicated to serving students of diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities. Lemoore College is seeking a candidate to provide engagement and discipline expertise that will contribute to program innovation and dynamic counseling approaches focused on student success. Under the direction of the assigned administrator, counselors assist with the leadership and direction of assigned counseling, guidance, student support, and / or student success functions within the scope of the student services philosophy of West Hills Community College District.
The successful candidate will exhibit a passion for serving and educating a diverse student population through culturally responsive counseling and student support strategies. The successful candidate will demonstrate the use of effective practices for engaging students with diverse needs, backgrounds, and academic goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for incorporating the use of technology into the delivery of counseling and student support services. Service delivery will include the development of non-traditional approaches and strategies to support students enrolled in distance learning / online, hybrid, video conference (two-way interactive courses) dual enrollment, etc. courses.
Additional responsibilities include involvement in counseling, student success, student support, instructional, and department activities; student recruitment; advising; developing and reviewing curriculum; developing and accessing learning and service outcomes consistent with the needs of the diverse backgrounds and abilities of students. Counseling faculty work with other faculty (fulltime and adjunct) on program review, literacy, articulation, and interdisciplinary projects, initiatives, etc. Faculty participation in college governance and other required campus meetings is expected, including, but not limited to, Academic Senate appointments to standing councils, committees, and / or a variety of task forces. Counseling assignments may include day, evening, and weekend hours.

Education and Experience
Evidence of sensitivity and responsiveness to as well as an understanding of the racial, ethnic, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, academic and cultural diversity within the community college student population, including students with different ability statuses (e.g., physical and / or learning) as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded educational services and practices.
Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent
NOTE : A bachelor's degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)
