Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. To support the vision and goals of the campus and district Fine Arts program, to produce outstanding performing groups, to develop individual musicianship with all students, to promote an appreciation for the best in all areas of music, and to teach the value of individual and team effort in reaching a common goal. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subjects/level assigned
Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject/level assigned
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Experince teaching all string instruments
Knowledge of beginning orchestra pedagogy
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) and Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) rules and procedures
Experience:
At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include teaching beginning orchestra classes located at Northpointe Intermediate and Oakcrest Intermediate
Develop individual musicianship with all students and promote an appreciation for music
Assist students in preparation for concerts and events
Attend and co-direct all outside of the academic day functions and events connected to the Northpointe and Oakcrest Orchestra Programs
Be a contributing member to the vertical team and plan instruction with orchestra directors from Grand Lakes JH and Willow Wood JH
Maintain quality student management and discipline in the organization and in the classroom
Maintain and accurate inventory and assignment records of school uniforms and instruments
Performs other duties as assigned
Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional travel required in-district and out-of-district for school functions and/or activities. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
