The West Lafayette Public Library is seeking a Public Services Librarian, to be a part of n creating engaging library experiences for teens and adults! Under the direction of the Adult & Teen Department Head, you'll assist with collections, programming, space planning, and marketing while delivering top-notch customer service at our beautifully remodeled public library.
What You'll Do:
- Provide exceptional patron support, including reference assistance, technology help, and circulation services.
- Plan and lead dynamic programs, events, and activities for teens and adults in our Creativity Lab and beyond..
- Promote library offerings through social media, print, email and other communication channels.
- Serve as the person in charge as needed, ensuring smooth library operations.
- Assist in building diverse collections of books, games and a "Library of Things" that reflect community interest and needs.
- Create eye-catching and interactive displays to highlight materials and enhance accessibility.
Qualifications:
- A passion for public service and community engagement, adept and verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail; Ability to work independently and set priorities while handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously; creative problem-solving, adaptability.
- Work in an office setting, using standard office equipment; ability to carry up to 20 pounds; reach, climb, and push carts weighing up to 100 pounds
- Creativity to develop engaging programs that develop new skills and connections
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be able to obtain and maintain mandatory Indiana Librarian Certification at the Professional Assistant Level LC5 within two (2) years of employment.
