Position Title: Bus Driver
Department: Transportation
Reports To: Director of Transportation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Operate any and all school buses, including Special Education buses, on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district approved activities, both within and out of school district boundaries
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections as required by State and District policy procedure
- Maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of assigned district vehicles; sweeping, dusting, and washing
- Add fuel, oil, and coolant as needed
- Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety. Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of supervisory personnel.
- Complete forms, records and reports as required by State and District policy and procedures. Maintain an up to date seating chart on bus
- Operate a school bus in accordance with the laws of the State of Arkansas and District policy and procedures
- Wear appropriate attire to comply with District policy and procedures
- Operate and maintain all school bus equipment and accessories including, but not limited to, fire extinguishers, highway warning kits, first aid kits, wheel chair lifts, and tie downs
- Operate all hand and foot controls installed in the school bus as required by Arkansas State School Bus Specifications
- Perform basic first aid as appropriate, which may include CPR
- Maintain and complete legible and accurate forms, records, time sheets, accident reports, and other clerical type activities as may be required
- Perform other school bus driver related duties as directed by District policy procedures
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the general public
- Notify transportation director if driver cannot perform assigned duty as early as possible so that a substitute can be notified to take your place
- Upon student entry of bus, the driver must be present on the bus
- Participate in all required screenings and tests
- Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met
- Display professionalism in appearance, attitude, and actions
