Position Summary: The Accountant is responsible for managing the finances of WMRMC. This position, under the direction of the WMRMC Chief Operating Officer, will maintain financial records, generate financial reports, monitor spending, manage payroll, and work with all departments on tracking and following budgets. This position will monitor all transactions for risk and will perform internal audits as needed to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Maintain all financial records for WMRMC departments and prepare monthly financial statements including but not limited to profit and loss, budget to actual, trends.
2. Ensure that all expenditures meet company and grant guidelines and are properly applied for, approved, tracked, and paid.
3. Ensure all federal, state, and local financial requirements and guidelines are properly followed and reported; this includes but is not limited to fixed asset maintenance and excluded vendor maintenance.
4. Ensure that all receipts, shipping documents and refunds are collected, reconciled and properly documented.
5. Maintain records of all bank and credit card transactions and ensure statements are reconciled monthly.
6. Ensure that all bills are paid in a timely fashion and documented properly.
7. Report any financial risks that may be present in current projects and assess future projects for risks.
8. Perform internal audits as needed to assess for fraud or inefficiencies.
9. Send out invoices and track payments from contractors and vendors.
10. Work with the auditors to ensure yearly financial and single audits are done in a timely manner and are accurate and complete.
11. Work with the operations director to ensure all finance related policies and procedures are up to date and followed appropriately.
12. Present monthly reports to appropriate boards as required.
13. Payroll.

Supervision Received:
Limited Direction: Works from overall policies, goals, and budgetary limits. Virtually self-supervising with direct accountability for final results.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 2 years accounting experience (non-profit company preferred)
- Extensive knowledge and experience using Intuit Quickbooks

- Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to excel at details, multi-tasking and working under pressure.
- Ability to function as a member of a team as well as individually in a fast paced and frequently changing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills required to write clear and concise professional letters using proper English.

- Ability to deal with individuals and information in a confidential manner.
- Unrestricted Michigan Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and ability to travel to various meeting sites and disaster scenes.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
