Job Summary
Banking Risk & Regulatory Leader will spearhead the firm's financial services risk management and regulatory compliance advisory offerings. You will work closely with C-level executives at top-tier banks and financial institutions, helping them navigate regulatory environments, optimize risk management frameworks, and enhance governance. You will be responsible for building and leading a team of risk and regulatory professionals, developing new business opportunities, and shaping strategic solutions for clients across areas such as compliance, operational risk, regulatory reporting, and cybersecurity.
What will you be doing?
Managing Directors at West Monroe have three main areas of responsibility within Business Development, Practice Development, and Client Delivery.
- Strategic Leadership: Lead and grow the firm’s banking risk and regulatory advisory practice, positioning it as a leader in the marketplace. Defining the vision and growth strategy.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, identifying their needs in risk management, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. Develop solutions that address emerging risks in the financial services industry.
- Risk & Regulatory Expertise Advisory: Provide thought leadership in financial risk management, compliance with regulations like Dodd-Frank, Basel III, BSA/AML/KYC, and emerging standards in fintech, data privacy, and ESG. Guide clients through regulatory audits, enforcement actions, and regulatory change implementation. Keep abreast of evolving banking regulations and frameworks.
- Business Development: Identify opportunities to grow the practice by engaging in client-facing activities, responding to RFPs, and participating in industry events and speaking opportunities. Collaborate with other service lines within the firm to cross-sell services.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and manage a team of consultants and risk professionals. Drive recruitment, professional development, and performance management within the banking risk practice.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the delivery of high-quality client engagements, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Risk Framework Development: Assist clients in developing and optimizing risk governance structures, including operational risk, compliance, and enterprise risk frameworks.
- Innovation and Insights: Stay current on industry trends, emerging risks, and innovative technologies that may impact banking and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience required
- 15 years of experience in risk management, regulatory compliance, or operational risk within the banking/financial services sector.
- Proven leadership experience in professional services or a consulting environment.
- Experience working directly with senior bank executives, regulators, and industry bodies.
- Deep knowledge of banking regulations, risk management principles, and governance structures.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Dodd-Frank, Basel III, and BSA/AML/KYC and the regulatory bodies such as the FDIC, OCC, and NCUA.
- Knowledge of emerging regulatory trends, including fintech, cybersecurity, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.
- Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex engagements with a focus on risk and regulatory issues.

Managing Directors at West Monroe are expected to be in-person three days a week. This can include being present at client sites, in the market, or in-office for internal collaboration. Tis flexibility and an understanding that schedules ebb and flow, but a core belief is that when we are together with our people and our clients, we build stronger relationships and are better equipped to sell and deliver value.
Based on pay transparency guidelines, a reasonable expectation for the salary range for this role is listed below. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity. Employees in proximity of our Seattle, Washington DC, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale.
Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use after successful completion of one year of employment.
