What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Manager, RN position at West Mont?
This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care at West Mont in accordance with standards and regulations for providing outpatient/continuing care for clients with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities of this position include monitoring and evaluating nursing services including providing immediate assistance and consultation with problem solving and decision-making during crisis and high-risk situations in conjunction with supervising assigned staff and patient services. This position provides direct supervision for professional registered and/or licensed practical nurses. They will work with the Department of Health and Human Services to make sure all requirements are being met for the care of the clients. The Nurse Manager will provide training on health and medical topics as needed.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Nurse Manager is directly responsible to the Program Coordinator and will have a close working relationship with the Direct Support Professionals working with client that require nursing and the Program Manager at Caldwell Group Home.
Essential Functions:
Nursing Care Management (55%)
· Establishes, monitors, and evaluates nursing services for West Mont client patient treatment.
· Provides immediate assistance and decision-making during crisis and high-risk situations.
· RN Oversight duties performed daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly.
· Assure quality of health care and provide oversight and guidance regarding health and medical issues of clients with developmental disabilities.
· Produce a schedule of the Nursing Department; this includes scheduling staff to cover clients needs according to their cost plans.
· Monitor health appointments by giving guidance to staff on appointments and attend when deemed necessary.
· Ensure that staff obtains physician’s orders for all prescribed medications, PRN medications, adaptations, etc.
· Record and monitor all client medication change and historical medications.
· Manage onsite medical supplies and equipment.
· Maintain all client provider records and follow-ups for future appointments.
· Support the contracted pharmacy with the updating of “Physician’s Orders” for each client as written by their physicians.
· Oversee and/or complete face to face visits monthly with clients in their homes in the Helena area.
· Perform Quality Assurance checks.
Direct Supervision of Nursing Staff (35%)
· Provides direct supervision to nursing staff including, but not limited to, directly monitor, evaluate, and assign tasks to staff. Provides guidance and support to nursing staff and assigns nursing care and treatment appropriate to client PSP’s ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
· Regularly meets with staff to discuss items such as policies and procedures, goals and objectives, best practices, and changes being implemented.
· Guides nurse employees and performs employee performance evaluations. Initiates appropriate disciplinary actions in consultation with Human Resource Department and the Program Coordinator.
· Responds to staff complaints and grievances at a supervisory level.
· Ensures nursing compliance with DPHHS policies and procedures, standards of nursing practice, and applicable licensure for staff and West Mont.
· Ensures new employees are provided with an appropriate orientation and other employees participate in training and staff development programs as required.
Administrative Duties (10%)
· Participates in the development of nursing policies and/or procedures for West Mont.
· Participates in activities which promote professional development and meets standards of licensure.
· Assesses client care and medical emergencies; coordinates appropriate care, transportation, and documentation.
· Completes other duties as assigned.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
a. Support the West Mont Mission, Vision and Core Values.
b. Assures scheduling and tracking of employee hours.
c. Aids staff conducting functional assessments and environmental analysis and review.
d. Conducts quality assurance checks in the West Mont Nursing Department.
e. Ensures compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including residential licensing.
f. Ensure compliance with medication assistance and supervision requirements.
g. Exposure to sensitive information and situations requires a tactful and trustworthy individual to reserve credibility of the agency, and confidentiality of client information.
h. Perform all tasks while striving to maintain the ethical standards which support program goals in developing and maintaining a culture of excellence in all services provided.
i. Perform other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or as directed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Valid RN License to work in Montana.
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the nursing field.
· Prior management experience preferred.
· Possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
· Computer skills a necessity.

Pay: $35.00 - $39.00 per hour
