West Park Veterinary Services is currently seeking a full-time associate veterinarian to join our 2-veterinarian team. We are a privately owned small animal practice (canine and feline only) that has served the Houma, LA area for over 50 years. Our practice promotes preventative medicine with an emphasis on client education and communication. Our doctors treat an array of medical and surgical cases.
Our hospital is equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, anesthetic monitoring equipment, oxygen cages, intravenous fluid pumps, and more. We have a large staff with varying degrees of experience to accommodate our ever-growing client base.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete medical examinations on all patients
- Educate clientele on medical conditions affecting their pet(s)
- Provide clientele with education to enhance preventative medicine for their pet(s)
- Complete medical records thoroughly and accurately
- Communicate with clients in person, via telephone, and electronically concerning pet health and recommendations for treatments
- Assess a patient's current health and provide recommendations when necessary
- Complete soft tissue surgeries both routine and otherwise
Qualifications
- Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine
- Louisiana Veterinary License in good standing
- DEA license
- USDA accreditation

Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Associates take lunch from 12-1pm. The doctors use a rotating weekend schedule for hospital patient care. Veterinary assistants work weekends for boarding patient care and cleaning.
Our hospital is on every other week rotation with another local hospital for after-hours emergencies Monday through Friday 5:00-10:00 PM. We utilize an answering service to filter out the calls for our clients only. A veterinary assistant is assigned after-hours call with the doctor. The hospital averages 4 emergency calls per month.
