West Penn Heavy Haul is seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing our fleet of heavy-duty trucks and equipment. This role is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of vehicles used in rig moving and specialized hauling projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electronic diagnostics, as well as a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, and heavy-duty equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and services, ensuring vehicles and equipment comply with safety standards.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, brakes, steering components, and air conditioning units.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with on-site vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs as needed.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure vehicles are ready for dispatch on schedule.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably with heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for heavy equipment.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and transmissions.
- Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
