Overview:
West Penn Energy Services is seeking a motivated Field Safety Intern for a short-term, hands-on learning experience in safety management for pipeline construction projects. This internship offers valuable field experience, supporting safety operations and ensuring compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations. The intern will report to the corporate office in Shelocta, PA, when not on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Support: Assist the safety team in implementing safety protocols and fostering a "Safety First" culture.
- Pre-Job Safety Meetings: Participate in daily safety meetings, promoting hazard awareness.
- Job Safety Analyses (JSA): Help develop and implement JSAs, ensuring they are submitted daily to the client along with equipment pre-trip inspections.
- Training & Compliance: Support the maintenance of crew training records and conduct safety training under supervision.
- Incident Documentation: Assist in maintaining records of incidents, near misses, and identified hazards.
- Site Inspections: Conduct hazard assessments and report findings to improve site safety.
- Incident Investigation: Participate in reviewing workplace incidents to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- HSE Program Support: Assist in refining Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and training initiatives.
Requirements:
- Education: Enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certifications: OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
